Muiris Ó Fiannachta

Station Manager

Muiris is originally from Celbridge in Co. Kildare and lives in Maynooth with his wife Eleanor and their young family. He has been Station Manager of Raidió na Life since 2007, having previously worked as the station’s Clár-Reachtaire and also having worked in the Irish Language TV Department of RTÉ and with independent production companies Animo Television and Adare Productions. Muiris began in Raidió na Life as a volunteer while a student, presenting the station’s magazine talk show Fios Feasa and metal show Scrios agus Ár. He is a graduate of Modern Irish and Spanish, with a B.A. International from Maynooth University as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Translation and Editing (an Dioplóma Iarchéime san Aistriúchán agus san Eagarthóireacht). He was awarded Duais Uí Dhoibhlin, the Ó Doibhlin Award, for having achieved the highest marks in the Diploma. 

He has spent periods lecturing in media in DCU and is a member of Coimisiún na Meán’s Irish Language Advisory Council as well as Media Literacy Ireland’s Irish Language Committee. He as previously been a Board member of IMRAM, the Irish-language literary festival and has sat on the the CRAOL / Community Radio Ireland Committee.
