About The Show: Let your afternoon get off to a nice easy start with "An Meangadh Beag", every weekday from 3:30 till 4:30pm. Featuring mostly pop and rock music, and with some chat, "An Meangadh Beag" used to air only on Fridays, when the station used to come on air an hour earlier (the station only came on air from 4:30pm onwards from Monday to Thursday prior to 2008), but can now be heard from 3:30 to 4:30 pm every day from Monday through Friday. The show is presented by a different presenter every day.
Monday - Dáirne Ní Dhuibh and Lúc Ó Cinsealla: Dáirne Ní Dhuibh was born and raised in Dublin. She's currently studying Early and Modern Irish in Trinity College Dublin. She joined Raidió Na Life's volunteer team in April 2010 and Lúc Ó Cinsella came on board as a co-presenter in autumn of the same year. Lúc was raised in Galway and he is currently studying journalism in Dublin's Institute of Technology. Every Monday this pair chat about television, film and music happenings. They raid each others music collections to select an eclectic mix for the show, including, rock, pop, 80's dance and the latest releases plus every Week Lúc picks a few new tracks for the listeners to check out. Dáirne likes Trinity and wouldn't have much time for DIT; Lúc likes DIT and wouldn't have much time for Trinity. Stand back!
Tuesday - Sadhbh Ní Nualláin agus Sorcha Ní Shioradáin: Sadhb and Sorcha were both born in Dublin. They attended the same primary school (Scoil an tSeachtar Laoch) and the same secondary school (Scoil Caitríona). Both Sorcha and Sadhbh are passionate about Irish. Sadhbh is currently studying Film and Broadcasting with Irish in Dublin Institute of Technology. She's in her first year. Sorcha is taking a year out from studies at the moment but she's also interested in doing something in Irish and Broadcasting in the future, and she's very interested in fashion and music! These two have completely conflicting tastes in music, but they work well together. There's a nice mix of Blues and Beats on the show. They discuss the latest news, review the latest tunes and films and keep us updated on the latest gigs and festivals. They really hope you enjoy the show because the girls are delighted to be doing it.
Wednesday - Helena King agus Fran Mulraney: Both of the girls are currently in third year of college in Dublin City University. Helena is studying Business and Irish, while Fran is in her final year of Journalism and Irish. Helena is doing her internship in Raidió na Life this year so the two girls are both really sad that they're not in college together this year so they join forces every Wednesday to bring you An Meangadh Beag. On the show they will be keeping you all up-to-date with the latest celebrity gossip, “the weirdest things in the world” and lots more. And of course they'll be pumping out the tunes! Lots of different kinds of music feature, but in particular pop, rock and dance music. Make sure and join us us every Wednesday on Raidió na Life!
Thursday - Brian Ó Súilleabháin: Brian first started with Raidió na Life in November 2011 on work experience. He greatly impressed the team during that long, gruelling week and landed himself the position of presenter on An Meangadh Mór soon after that. He's currently in his fourth year (the toughest year of all as everyone knows) in Coláiste Ráithín in Bray, County Wicklow. He has a keen interest in English, history and music (classic rock for the best part) and would love to be an actor or writer in the future, but for now he's just happy sitting behind the mic in Raidió na Life.
Friday - John Bodkin agus Kate Ní Chléirigh: John and Kate live in Dublin. They're currently studying journalism with Irish in Dublin Institute of Technology and are in their fourth year. They like a lot of different types of music but usually on the show they play a mix of the latest pop, R'n'B and dance music to kick off the weekend. Add to that two songs from the eighties and nineties every Friday. At the moment John is listening to artists like Sky Ferreira, Ke$ha and Deadmau5. Kate loves R'n'B and is one of Rihanna's fans, so if you enjoy these types of music, you'll enjoy tuning into Friday's Meangadh Beag.
