About The Show: A Feast of Poetry and Music on Raidió na Life 106.4fm!
In each programme of this series, listeners have the opportunity to hear some of the greatest contemporary Irish Language poets reading their own poetry to an audience in the Caifé Cois Life, a concept based on the Caifé Gorm of 1980s Dublin. Each programme will feature a renowned modern Irish Language poet being accompanied by some of Dublin's finest contemporary music performers. This series of programmes is presented by Mairéad Uí Dhomhnaill and produced by Deirdre Donnelly.
Amongst the poets which can be heard throughout the series are Áine Ní Ghlinn, Nuala Ní Dhomhnaill, Gabriel Rosenstock, Micheál Ó hUanacháin, Greagóir Ó Dúill, Liam Mac Con Iomaire, Biddy Jenkinson, Pádraig Ó Snodaigh, Tadhg Ó Dúsláine, Ailbhe Ní Ghearbhuigh, Liam Ó Muirthile and Colm Breathnach
The musicians accompanying them include Éanna Ó Cróinín, Máire Breatnach, Niamh de Búrca, Cormac de Barra, Cormac Breatnach, Mick O’ Brien, Rónan Ó Snodaigh(Kíla), Paul O’ Shaughnessy, Micheál Ó Raghallaigh, Tristan Rosenstock, Daniel Stenson and Paul Finn.
This is a fantastic opportunity for listeners to hear these excellent modern Irish Language poets giving live interpretations of their own work. This series was produced with assistance from Foras na Gaeilge and the BCI's Sound & Vision fund.
