Volunteer with Raidió na Life

There are always opportunities to take part in Raidió na Life. We are always in search of volunteer researchers, assistants, producers, technicians etc. .

If you speak Irish and are interested in media and would like to practice your Irish in an energetic, creative and contemporary environment, be part of our fantastic group of volunteers. No previous experience is required and full training will be provided .

Since the station’s foundation as a community (of interest) radio station serving the Irish-speaking population of Dublin and surrounding counties, volunteering has been and remains a fundamental element of Raidió na Life’s broadcasting ethos. Our volunteers are our backbone. Without them, the station would not exist.

Why volunteer with Raidió na Life?

  • Broadcasting experience. Through volunteering with Raidió na Life you are gaining excellent broadcasting experience. Many famous faces began their broadcasting careers in Raidió na Life.
  • The chance to present a radio show. Not everyone gets the opportunity to broadcast all over Dublin City and County, not to mention the whole world. Through volunteering with Raidió na Life you will be given the opportunity to do just that. Put simply, the chance to have your own radio show!
  • Personal development and satisfaction. You learn a lot, not only about broadcasting, but about yourself and others, through volunteering in Raidió na Life. Volunteering also gives people a great sense of satisfaction, especially in a place that’s as creative and open as Raidió na Life!

The volunteering process

We meet new volunteers for a one-to one meeting where we discuss the  various opportunities that are available. We usually give guided tours of the station and run through some paper work including the broadcasting rules of the station.

Following this, If you have decided to take a volunteer role, we will arrange a suitable start time/date and will arrange further training. Volunteers must sign a contract and may have to do Garda Vetting, depending on the nature of the volunteer role. The staff of Raidió na Life are here to help and answer your questions!

Getting started as a volunteer

If you are interested in volunteering with Raidió na Life, fill out the form below and we will be in touch with you shortly!

PLEASE NOTE: Irish is the working language of Raidió na Life both on and off the air. While we may from time to time consider proposals for programmes which would be presented in a foreign language, the vast majority of programmes are presented solely in Irish and a relatively strong level of fluency in the language is a requirement for volunteering with the station.
