New radio series for women for Raidió na Life
Meon na mBan is a lively new show for women which will be broadcast on Raidió na Life 106.4Fm every Wednesday from 18:00-18.30.
The show will focus on the lives of women of all ages, classes and races from across the world. The lives of Irish women and those abroad will be examined as we find out more about the lives, their achievements and their feelings.
Ciara Ní Éanacháin is the chief anchor and presenter of the show and the show will be directed by her own inimitable chatty and upbeat style of presentation.
From week to week, different guests from the women’s working group from Raidió na Life will drop in to discuss questions posed by women in Ireland today.
Ciara Ní Éanacháin is a poet and writer from Dublin. In 2012 she started a page of Irish language memes and since then has gone on to write on a regular basis for Nós Magazine. She is most recognised for her work in organising an Irish language monthly spoken word event, Reic where poetry, song and rap are performed in the medium of the Irish language.
On the first show, to be broadcast on 01 March 2017 from 18:00-18:30, stories from the media on women’s issues will be examined by our panel. Angela Seoighe will join Ciara as co-presenter for the first show.
Radio producer Judy-Meg Ní Chinnéide will present a special report examining the history and achievements of Beatrice Grimshaw, a writer from Dublin who achieved renown travelling across the world at the start of the last century.
Also featuring in the show is an examination of lives of comedians in Ireland with Julie Jay- Julie Johnson and Bláithín de Búrca. The time-old trope- can women be funny will be discussed along with the achievements of a new generation of female comedians across the country,
Meon na mBan is produced by Raidió na Life Programme Co-ordinator Niamh Ní Shúilleabháin and is supported by a working group in the station. The show has at its core the ethos of community radio broadcasting and aims to provide women with increased access to the media and content which interests them.
